Triangle UFO Sighted over Durham - November 2003

Short description - Triangle with three orange lights and one big orange light in the centre of the craft

It was a normal, cold and uneventful night the exact date was November 7th 2003 I was only eleven years of age at the time, I was young but one thing is for sure I could tell the difference between a regular event and an irregular event and I was about the encounter the most irregular event of my life. I had two friends visiting me at my house on that night, we were inside escaping the cold winter weather, we did not step foot outside until around five minutes to eight. We went out at that time because one of my friends mum was coming round to pick him up at 8pm so we were standing outside waiting and were engaged in general everyday conversation. I was standing at the very top of my steep driveway and I happened to look over towards a house at the bottom of the street which was situated only a few metres away from me the house was completely normal but what was hovering above it was not.

There was one bright orange light in a stationary position above the house at that point I did not alert my friends instead I simply dismissed it as a star simply because I could think of nothing else it could be. I ignored it until I noticed it moving, it was coming towards us at quite a slow rate of speed the time was now approximately 8pm and the orange light came closer and closer until it was right above us. As I looked up I noticed that this was not a single light it was a large triangular shaped craft, it had three orange lights at each corner of the triangle shape and one large single light that was bigger than the other three in the dead centre of the black body of the craft. As I looked at this craft it was confirmed in my mind that I was looking at something very irregular indeed none of us really said anything much when we were observing the craft I only remember one bit of speech from that moment the words were “What is it” we had no idea what we were looking at.

I observed the craft for a few seconds and then decided it was time to do something about what I was seeing, the thought came to me that I should get a camera and take a photograph of the unknown object. As quickly as I could I ran down my drive and straight inside the front door I did not even bother to close the front door behind me I was fixated on getting a photograph on the incredible phenomena that was literally right outside the front door. I went directly to my bedroom and grabbed the camera as I approached the front door I saw one of my friends standing there shouting and shouting telling me that the craft was nearly gone and I had to hurry up. I exited the house and scanned for the triangle I noticed the orange of the lights over towards a heavily wooded area to the south next to my house by the time I hit the button to take what would have been a truly mind blowing photograph the view of the object was obscured by the trees.

At the time I thought I had got the triangle but when I inspected the photograph absolutely nothing was visible I was just not prepared for something so incredible to fly directly over me. A few moments after the craft had disappeared my friends mum arrived I remember that all three of us told her about the triangle and we asked if she had perhaps seen it on her travels but she said she had not seen anything unusual on her trip. I don’t think any of our parents took what we were saying with any substance of seriousness but to this day I know that I saw something that I can say with certainty I cannot begin to explain.
