UFO Wave - Washington 1952

In 1952 a classic War of the Worlds Scenario occurred with the Leaders of the United States having a visit from an entire fleet of UFO’s the strange objects were seen flying over and hovering over the White House in Washington D.C. Washington National Airport and Andrews AFB picked up a number of UFO’s on their radar screens on that night on July 19th 1952 which began a large wave of sightings that remain unknown. The strange objects seen on radar screens were travelling at around 100mph with the incredible ability to accelerate to astounding speeds of 7,2000mph when Washing National Airport saw these objects on radar they contacted Andrews AFB here is a transcript of their conversation –

Washington Tower:
Andrews Tower, do you read? Did you have an airplane in sight west-northwest or east of your airport moving east-bound?
Andrews: No, but we just got a call from the center. We're looking for it.

Washington: We've got a big target showing up on our scope. He's just coming in on the west edge of your airport-the northwest edge of it eastbound. He'll be passing right through the northern portion of your field on an east heading. He's about a quarter of a mile from the northwest runway-right over the edge of your northwest runway now.

Andrews: What happened to your target now?

Washington: He's still eastbound. He went directly over Andrews Fields and is now five miles east.
Andrews: Where did he come from?

Washington: We picked him up ourselves at about seven miles east, slightly southeast, and we have been tracking him ever since then. The Center has been tracking him farther than that.
Andrews: Was he waving his course?

Washington: Holding steady course, due east heading.

Andrews: This is Andrews. Our radar tracking says he's got a big fat target out here northeast of Andrews. He says he's got two more south of the field.

Washington: Yes, well the center has about four or five around the Andrews Range station. The Center is working a National Airlines - the center is working him and vectoring him around his target. He went around Andrews. He saw one of them - looks like a meteor. (Garbled)..Went by him..or something. He said he's got one about three miles off his right wing right now. There are so many targets around here it is hard to tell as they are not moving very fast.

Andrews: What about his altitude?

Washington: Well, must be over 8,000 feet as we don't have him in radar any more.
After the transmission Andrews AFB notified the U.S Air Force Air Defence Command and a number of F-94 night fighters were scrambled but runway repairs held their mission up for several hours. By the time they were patrolling the skies the mysterious object had left. The fighters returned but soon the object again showed up on radar screens and for the next several hours the fighters chased the targets but to no avail. They were able to sight the UFO’s but the lights of the strange objects would darken as the fighters attempted to get close to them. Constant communication was kept with ground radar, and as the pilots lost sight of the UFO’s they also disappeared from ground radar. The strange objects were also witnessed by the crew of a B-29 and other commercial flights that night.

After a silent week the objects yet again showed up on July 26th and after multiple radar operations confirmed the objects the F-94’s again began their search for the enigmatic lights over Washington the result of their chase were identical the past week they just could not get close to the objects. After their chase the planes returned only to hear that the objects were being tracked yet again. One of the pilots made a transmission that really told of his fear of these craft: “They’ve surrounded my plane, what should I do?” The official explanation to the objects was “temperature inversions” which officials claimed caused ground lights to bounce off clouds, given the appearance of lighted craft in the skies. The press trusted the quite dumb explanation of the objects. However UFOlogists could see straight through the cover story and could see that these objects did not match what the officials claimed and it is even said in project blue book that this explanation was not correct and it is noted down in Project Blue Book that the Washington Sightings are marked as Unknown.

Radar operators also stated that these objects did not match the official explanation - "Inversion blips are always recognized by experts, we are familiar with what weather conditions, flying birds, and [other] such things can cause on radar. Temperature inversions on radar are typically weak returns and move at a slow ground speed. These blips were distinctly clear, reported as a very good return, solid and often travelled at unbelievable speeds."

The following eyewitness report that was sent to the National UFO Reporting Centre reports six sphere's seen from Tacoma Washington and took place on July 25th 1952 -

Six spheres flying in formation, one then two, one then two in the Western Skies past McCord Air Force Base. There were reddish in color and had a short trail behind each. Based on Airforce cargo planes and the distance away from us they seemed larger.

"I just encountered your site recently. This siting was over 50 years ago and I had one other UFO siting of a disk shape ship flying over Tacoma in 1957 which is posted elsewhere. Since that time I have not seen a UFO.The date is an estimate. I was in junior high and it was a summer softball program. My friend and I stayed after practice to hit balls. After hitting the ball and looking up while watching it I noticed the spheres and told my friend to do the same.We first thought that it was a military exercise but when we arrived home and listened to a local radio station there were a lot of people calling in about this sighting so we also did and they told us that there were more than 100 people that called in."

Military personel also reported their eyewitness accounts of the objects that were also photographed over the White House (See top of page) Sergeant Harrison reports - I saw the ... light moving from the Northeast toward the range station. These lights did not have the characteristics of shooting stars. There was no trails and seemed to go out rather than disappear, and traveled faster than any shooting star I have ever seen.

Sergeant H. Spiewakowski explained what he saw also - I ... observed targets following very erratic courses, sometimes appearing to stop, then reverse course, accelerating momentarily, and then slowing down. Target sightings were all coordinated with W.A.R.T.C. and verified, using radar facilities. Another peculiarity noted was the sudden disappearance of targets of targets then suddenly reappearing 8 - 10 miles farther along the same course ... The biggest problem appeared to be the large No. of targets present which made it difficult to have any definite targets singled out for checking.

The Washington D.C Sightings are still unexplained to this very day and are some of the most amazing set of events in UFO history.
