The Phoenix Lights Incident - March 13th 2007
Following these two sightings were a flurry of sightings reported to UFO Investigators, law officers and the media and also Like AFB all from North and West of Phoenix. The reports did not match much of a pattern nor did many of the reports back each other up there were many different types of craft reported. There were different numbers, colours and speeds of light. But a common theme was that the craft were extremely large. A large V-shaped craft was reported from leaving Las Vegas to crossing the state line down through Phoenix and as far as Tuscan. A 300 miles journey north of Phoenix three witnesses saw a huge wedge-shaped with five lights glide over them towards the mountains to the south the object was reported to have covered 70 to 90 degrease of the sky. Near the corner of Indian School Road and the 7th Avenue a mother and her four daughters saw a craft shaped like “Sergeants Stripes” approach them from Camelback Mountain. It hovered above them for five minutes taking up more than 30 to 40 degrease of the sky. As the object moved off in the direction of Sky Harbour International Airport it fired a beam of light downwards. Two air traffic A family driving along interstate 10 near Cosa Grande reported an object over their car they claim it took them minutes to arrive from the front to the back of the craft travelling at 80 miles per hour even though it was heading roughly south away from Phoenix and they were heading north this would make the craft around 3 miles in length. A man from Luke AFB reported to the national UFO centre that two USAF F-15c fighter jets had been scrambled and had intercepted one of the craft reported over the area on March 13th the man later went quiet but Bill; Grenier, a truck driver who was heading towards Glendale, Arizona reported seeing two aircraft take off from Luke AFB and head toward the bright object he had spotted just moment ago. The object reacted very quickly gaining a lot of altitude in a short amount of time and outrun the fighters and disappeared off into the night sky and out of view. The main incident of March 13th happened between 9:30pm and 10:00pm (Mountain Time) 7 to 9 lights appeared and later disappeared one by one many got these orbs on video. The lights were later reported at 2am on March 14th over Rainbow Valley. The lights however did not make the news until 10 weeks later when USA Today had a front page article about the Phoenix Lights on June 18th 1997. The Military first kept quiet about the whole incident. But in May 1997 Luke AFB announced the lights were flares set off by an A-10 Warthog aircraft over the Gila Ben firing range. Some believe this explanation but UFOlogists and Phoenix Resident do not believe the explanation given by the military. The residents of Phoenix were not convinced so they called in experts Jim Dilates and Michael Tanner of Village Labs a professional investigation agency. They found that although the TV crew’s footage of flares did look very similar to the lights over Phoenix that night but the Optical properties of the flares and the lights were much different to each other. In their opinion this proves that the Phoenix Lights could not have been flares.
